Hi everyone, I’m an overseas korean and recently became more interested about jokbos. My family is a part of the yangcheon heo clan, and i’m guessing the yongjin-gong branch. I was wondering if you guys think whether it would be possible to find my great grandfather’s name in published jokbos, or to contact the association.

The reason I think it won’t be able to be found is because my grandfather is from Kilju, Hamgyeongdo, in the north. He also fled as a child during the war on the hungnam evacuation to geoje. Their physical jokbo is lost and still in the north, but i’m not sure if the association would have one with their names in the registry.

I’m also curious for my grandmother’s side, but I have no idea how to confirm what generation they are. My grandmother is from the Gochang Oh clan and most likely 25-26th generation. My grandfather is probably 36th.

If anyone has any questions about north korea and his experience, I’m willing to ask too.
