It take a lot of luck, money and good promotion for a boy group outside of the big 4 to make it big, but in 5th gen I think we have a few potential contenders for top groups. Groups like Xlov, longshot, xikers, AHOF, ALD1 & ZB1 with its new lineup, IDID, closeyoureyes and the new yuehua boy group all have potential to become top groups.
My personal picks are Xlov, longshot and closeyoureyes. Xlov have a strong concept that stands out, good songs, striking aesthetics and good promotion behind them.
Longshot had a strong debut and initial interest as the first group under jay parks company, and if they can keep up their momentum with their comebacks will be one of the top groups of their gen.
Closeyoureyes have a ton of potential. They seem to have a great team behind them with good marketing and a strong creative director in lee Haein, who famously was the creative director for kiss of life. They’re songs have largely been great and they’re only negative is that they are a temporary group with a suspected contract time of about 3 years.
