Cooking Beans and Pulses with Rice

Hi, I thought I’d post his here since I most commonly see rice cooked with beans and other grains and pulses in Korean restaurants/food videos (although I’ve seen rice and grain mixes sold in other groceries like Taiwanese etc.). How do you cook beans, lentils and other grains with your rice in a rice cooker? I’ve seen this done in Korean food videos. I’m concerned that the beans won’t be completely cooked and become toxic – this happens when beans like kidney beans are simmered too low, so their toxins get activated rather than being deactivated (when boiled at higher temps). Is this a risk in rice cookers? I’m guessing people soak the beans in water first?
