Does anyone feel like kpop’s popularity has decreased globally?

Does anyone else feel like K-pop was way more popular from around 2019 to 2022? What’s interesting is that there were already a lot of really big Western artists at the time, but K-pop still felt everywhere and was constantly part of the conversation. Even people who weren’t fans seemed aware of it.

Now it feels different. I mostly hear about K-pop within fandom spaces, and there haven’t really been many songs in the past two or three years that felt huge on a global level outside of fans. Even Jump by Blackpink wasn’t as popular and gained as much traction as I expected but I could be wrong. In general, kpop as a genre just doesn’t seem as present in mainstream pop culture anymore.

I’m curious if other people feel the same way and what you think changed. Was that period just a unique moment, or has the genre shifted in how it shows up globally?
