Making this post because I see people get worried about a group because it’s been 8 months since their last release. Kpop is notoriously fast-paced with most groups having 2-3 releases a year+a lot of growth is centered around the show performances that come with new music, so it’s not rly strange that fans would see that, in their perception, deadtime and get antsy that a group is late in their lifecycle. I just kinda wonder when and what people see that marks the realization that “oh… they’re probably not going to release very often anymore.” This isn’t talking about group disbandment necessarily either, this is actually more thinking about groups that are “inactive” but still extant. They might release with years inbetween for instance.
I do think the answer will vary drastically because groups slow down for different reasons, which is why I’m throwing it out there. for instance, boy groups have enlistment as a big obvious given. Groups might also have a split of members that renew their solo activities with their company. Sometimes the groups post-renewal are more loose with their comebacks, sometimes the members have other things going on, and sometimes the group’s company just sucks. I guess what I’m asking is: what goes through your mind when you see situations like this come up? What feeling do you get when groups have these periods of inactivity, and when do you feel they’re a natural progression vs a stunting of a group?
