I hang around r/kpophelp often, and a really common question is along the lines of “I like XYZ, what groups should I check out?” And usually they get like 100 comments naming every group under the sun. But then when I’m on individual group subreddits, a common post is “How did you get into this group?” And nobody ever answers “Some Redditor recommended them to me.” So what gives?
Surely there exist people who have gotten Reddit recommendations for a group, and then actually got into that group. So, tell me your story! What’s your favorite group that you got into because of a Reddit recommendation?
Mine is f(x). Two or three years ago I was on Reddit, and someone recommended that I check out f(x) – Milk. I’d never heard an f(x) song, but I liked SNSD and I liked Red Velvet and I knew that f(x) was between them, so I figured I’d give it a shot. The song blew my mind, so over the next few months I got really into the group, checked out all their albums, and Pink Tape is my favorite album to this day.
