Hey everyone,

I’ve been learning more about the role soup plays in Korean home cooking, and honestly, the more I explore it, the more I see how deeply soup is woven into the culture. It’s not just something warm on the table, it’s a part of life, emotion, celebration, and care.

For today’s post on my blog Shared Chopsticks, I wrote about how certain Korean soups carry meaning through different stages of life — miyeok-guk, doenjang jjigae, kimchi jjigae, galbitang, tteokguk, and more. Each one says something a little different, whether it’s comfort, healing, routine, or new beginnings.

It’s more of a reflection than a recipe, a look at the warmth behind Korean food, and what soup has taught me about patience, family, and slowing down.

If you’re into the stories behind Korean dishes, I think you’ll enjoy this one.
