Korean Gopchang Combo (Grilled Pork Intestine with Rice Ball & Steamed Egg)

Korean Gopchang Combo (Grilled Pork Intestine with Rice Ball & Steamed Egg)

I ordered a gopchang combo from a local place called Gubaeknyang Gopchang tonight.
This dish is based on pork intestine stir-fried with vegetables and served with rice balls and steamed eggs — a common Korean comfort food combination.

🔸 Main dish: “Al-gopchang” (spicy pork intestine stir-fry)

This version contains a generous amount of pork intestine compared to the typical ones that mix in lots of vegetables.
It’s stir-fried with onion, perilla leaves, and chili paste, giving it a smoky and slightly spicy flavor.
You can choose the heat level — I went with the regular option today.
The wok aroma and chili flavor come together nicely, especially with the soft texture of the intestines.

🔸 Side 1: Rice Ball (Jumeok-bap)

It’s a simple but essential side made of rice, seaweed flakes, and small bits of yellow pickled radish.
It helps balance out the heat from the gopchang and adds a crunchy contrast to each bite.

🔸 Side 2: Steamed Egg (Gyeran-jjim)

Soft, fluffy, and warm — it’s one of the most common side dishes when ordering Korean meals for delivery.
This one is a simple version made with egg and a bit of sesame, giving it a mild and comforting flavor that balances the spicy main dish perfectly.

🍽️ My combo mix: Gopchang + Rice Ball + Steamed Egg + Mayonnaise

Mixing them all together gives a balanced bite —
the spicy gopchang blends with the creamy mayo and fluffy egg,
while the pickled radish from the rice ball adds a refreshing crunch.
It ends with a gentle smoky aftertaste from the grilled intestines — the best part of this combo.
