(Busan = News1) Reporter Lim Soon-taek = A case in which a citizen found and returned tuition money lost by a foreign university student has become a heartwarming story.
According to Busan Nambu Police Station on the 27th, at around 9:30 a.m. on the 26th, Sri Lankan student A lost an envelope containing her hard-earned university tuition near a crosswalk close to Kyungsung University in Daeyeon-dong. Though devastated, she did not lose hope and immediately filed a lost property report at the Daeyeon Police Precinct.
Around the same time, a citizen discovered an envelope containing about 1 million won in cash at the Daeyeon-dong crosswalk and reported it to the same police precinct. The police confirmed that the recovered item matched the foreign student’s loss report.
Thanks to the quick verification process, the student was able to recover her tuition money just a few hours after losing it.
Student A said, “I thought I would never see it again. I am deeply moved and truly grateful to the citizen who returned the money.”
Citizen B responded, “Anyone would have done the same thing.”
Ahn Young-bong, chief of Busan Nambu Police Station, said, “The honest action of this citizen has moved us all. We will continue doing our best to protect the people’s property.”
