I’ve been to my fair share of concerts (both K-pop and non-K-pop), raves, and sports events in my life. But on average, K-pop concerts are easily the stinkiest. Taking a squeaky clean shower and putting on deodorant before an event where you will be packed in with people from all directions should be basic common courtesy. Even outside of concerts, after a long day of work, don’t you feel gross going to bed without cleaning yourself?
It might sound harsh, but the way some people manage to spread their stench in all settings, even in outdoor stadiums, is almost impressive. I’m not exaggerating when I say a few smell like dead animals. Being stuck next to one for hours can give you a headache and ruin the night you have been anticipating for months or even perhaps years. Imagine waiting years to see your favorite artist, only for the most lasting memory to be the stench of the person next to you.
I genuinely do not understand why hygiene issues seem so common at K-pop shows. It is telling when even idols themselves politely ask fans to shower before concerts. People talk about bringing earplugs for the noise, but at this point, I think nose plugs should be a must bring item as well.
