As a non-korean, I feel lots of absolute genius wordplay of this man gets lost in translation but when you really dig deep, you realize how much you’re missing out when it comes to his lyricism. I love his playful yet clever wordplay between 사람 and 사랑 throughout Trivia:Love and him using the korean letters to convey how love erodes his edges(I’ll share an excerpt of it here). 나를 사랑, 사랑, 사랑으로 만들어 만들어 and make me a love, love, love For 사람 to become 사랑, the edges of ㅁ have to be smoothed out so that ㅁ can become ㅇ. Similar to English, but not in the entirely same way, the word “edge” is used to describe people in Korean. A person with edges is someone who is difficult and unsociable. “You” are the one who melts “my” edges away to make me into someone who is able to love (or who is a love)

저 무수히 많은 직선들 속 Among those countlessly many straight lines
