I feel like SM isn’t utilising the full potential of their groups

Note:-This post can contain a lot of stuff that is already said about SM.This post is not entirely about a lack of western promotions . I believe the groups I mentioned are still in contact with SM, but some members have left the agency and are currently with other labels. I don’t follow SM too closely, but I’m just sharing my thoughts based on what I have heard ,if I am wrong , feel free to correct me.

SM, like the other big three companies (and HYBE), has its faults, but I do feel that HYBE and JYP have done a better job promoting and utilizing their artists, consistent comebacks, variety projects, and more. There’s not much to say about YG since they seem to keep most of their artists in the YG dungeon. Plus, they have very few groups, yet still fail to promote them properly, which deserves a post of its own.

As for SM, they have senior idols and practically never disband their groups. I believe that is due to something called the slave contract which is why many groups last for years, even though senior groups often don’t get treated well.

I understand that senior groups don’t frequently comeback as they get older, but soloists and subunits are still used. Taeyeon, Taemin, and BoA remain popular. SM has senior groups like Super Junior, TVXQ, Girls Generation, and SHINee. Let’s not forget EXO they are one of Kpop biggest boy groups. They’ve gone from 12 members to 8, and SM continues to reduce their group size, especially after the CBX lawsuit.

Red Velvet, after Psycho has slowed down, and I don’t understand why the company isn’t branching out more for them. After their hiatus SM just let them fade. Aespa and NCT seem to be doing decently and with Hearts2Hearts debuting (I’m not into doomposting, but hopefully, the two girl groups will be consistently supported).

Then there’s the situation with SUPERM and Girls on Top,both groups had few songs but never made a proper comeback and with the Riize situation, was the backlash and loss so severe that they had to bring him back and then kick him out again? Irene and Seulgi debuted as a subunit but they haven’t had a single comeback since. Is this a pattern , debut a group or subunit and then do nothing with it afterward?
It seems like SM has been using this tactic for a while, and they’re still not losing profit. They keep groups for years, lose members, then focus on solo releases and subunits. Full group comebacks have become increasingly rare.I am person who mostly follows the groups if they are together but irene x seulgi ,superM and Girls on Top seemed super interesting.Seeing that they have their senior groups still with them ,I hope they can be brought back together and be strong consistly. Not to mention,SNSD ,riize ,EXO and Super Junior all lost members as well either in the first few years or while they become inactive.
