Today I saw a video of a girl replying to, allegedly, some comments made by “””people who hate Rosé,””” the comments said something like “All of the fame from APT was thanks to Bruno” “Say thanks to Bruno for making Rosé famous.” But is this really true?
The answer is yes and no. Right now, if you go to her Spotify, the top 1 song is APT with 636M streams, followed by Number One Girl with only 63M streams. But… is it thanks to Bruno? Like I said before… yes and no. Bruno Mars, as we know, is a really big artist. He started before Rosé and has had a big impact on the music industry since 2010. With his latest release wth Lady Gaga, Die With A Smile, he called the industry’s attention again, which led to 1B streams in Spotify and people around the world used the song on weddings, birthday parties, etc… before we go back to Rosé, let’s remember something… the obsession of kpop stans to stream songs. In the video I talked about, the girl showed how APT, allegedly, won more things than Die With A Smile, but most things were “Likes in 24 hs” “Views in 24 hs” “Likes now” “Views now” and a lot of “wins” and achievements that you get by having lots of views and likes. As we all now, if we compare Bruno Mars’ fandom with Rosé’s fandom, Bruno’s fans don’t stream as much as Kpop stans do, because the obsessive streaming culture is something that comes from kpop and not traditional American pop. So, if we compare a song that had a lot of views and love from all over the world, but we compare it with a song that has half “”fake”” views, then ofc APT is gonna win. Kpop stans have an obsessions with breaking records, so It’s not weird if she had more views. (With fake views, I mean people just repeated the song over and over again, from 25secs to 35secs, over and over again. That’s how stream works.)
Both songs are amazing. Both singers are amazing! So let’s not say Bruno got game thanks to Rosé or that Rosé got fame thanks to Bruno. They’re both good, but know that it’s totally common for kpop artists to get more views and likes in 24 hs than American pop artists because of their streaming culture.
