I’ve noticed lately a lot of girl groups are getting low Spotify streams compared to what they used to
Day 1 Spotify streams for latest comebacks:
GIDLE – Klaxon: 338,573 streams
IVE – Accendio: 419,931
ITZY – GOLD: 399,235
Kiss of Life – Get Loud: 193,371
Now Kiss of Life are new and from a small company although they have been trending a lot in kpop spaces, so I just included them just for that frame of reference. Sticky debuted with a bit over 200k streams IIRC.
There are other peer girl groups to these that are still getting great streaming debuts – for example:
LE SSERAFIM – Crazy: 2,554,686
aespa – Supernova: 1,942,333
So I don’t think Spotify has changed their counting or something.
It seems weird to me because that first bunch are also popular groups that have had songs debut over 1 million streams on Spotify within like the past year. And in terms of monthly listeners, over 6 million for IVE, over 9 million for GIDLE, over 4 million for ITZY…I don’t get how so (relatively) few people are checking out and streaming their new songs.
Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
