Have you ever noticed that a group tends to really shine when they release songs in a certain month? Either they usually choose that month to come back (from what I know, Twice has had several October comebacks over the years), or you’ve just noticed that a lot of your favorite releases from a group happened to come out during a certain month.
This was inspired by ONF’s new comeback today, because I’m blown away. I’ve been a casual fan for a while and been especially into their music lately, but The Stranger is an easy frontrunner for my SOTY and the b-sides are all incredible. I then remembered that they came back in February 2019 with We Must Love, one of my favorite kpop songs of all time, and in February 2021, they came back with Beautiful Beautiful, which is also fantastic (and has some amazing b-sides too). Their discography is really strong, but it led me to think…is February ONF’s *month?*
I also kind of think of January as Ateez’s month, since January 2019 had Say My Name and January 2020 had Answer. Technically Halazia came out on December 30, 2022, but it was largely promoted in January 2023, so I’ll count it. While they’ve obviously had a ton of notable releases, those are my three favorite title tracks from them!
Of course there are also iconic cases like Sistar being the summer queens- when they come back in summer (which they usually did!), everyone knew it was going to be a HIT. I don’t know if they’re associated with a specific “month,” rather they just have the entire summer season!
