I lost Family Registration Certificate

I’ve lost my Family Registration Certificate. I recently naturalized and became a U.S. citizen, and now I want to sponsor my mom’s citizenship. To do so, I need my Family Registration Certificate, but my mom lost it.

I understand I have to go to the Consulate General (nearest is NYC) to get it, but they’re only open on weekdays during my work hours. I just started my job, and I already took a day off for my citizenship test, so I can’t take another day off so soon.

I tried calling the consulate, but every time, the same thing would happen: A woman would answer and ask, “What do you need?” I’d say, “Family Registration Certificate,” and she’d respond, “Hold on.” Then the phone would start ringing again, followed by a BEEP—as if the call had been cut off. I tried multiple times, thinking it was a mistake, but it kept happening. I even tried explaining it to the woman, but she didn’t seem interested in listening.

Maybe it was because I was speaking in English—I felt I could explain everything better that way—but I don’t want to assume that was the reason. Just in case, I sent them an email in Korean asking about my situation.

I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone know if it’s possible to get the Family Registration Certificate by mail, or if my mom or another family member can pick it up for me? I really can’t take another day off work, and I need it as soon as possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
