not to get too political but do you guys think china will lift the kpop ban anytime soon?

from what i know, it’s mostly the concerts and dramas that have been banned/restricted, but fanmeetings and magazine features are still allowed. however, recently i have seen a lot more kpop groups doing fanmeetings in china, kpop companies hiring “china business” roles, and the recent kakao ent x netease cloud music (a chinese music streaming platform) partnership.

i just thought it was interesting! obviously china is a huge market and korean companies want to capitalize on that, but i’m wondering if china will ever allow them to do so fully (aka back to how things were pre-2017)

i did see that there are A LOT more foreign (not just korean specifically) artists in china as well, so i’m wondering what that means for the entertainment industry in china. but again, obviously, the situation with south korea is unique to the political landscape between these two countries.

*again please don’t fight about politics but feel free to justify reasoning with political news if relevant
