Is Kakao winding down IST entertainment?

The big recent news was the departure of the Boyz, who are leaving at the end of December.

But really, this has been going on for a while now.

– 4/5 of Apink left the company last year. I dont know if IST let the group name go, but it is worth noting that on their last special single, the credited company is Choi Creative Lab and not IST anymore.

– 4/6 of Victon left the company. Dont know much about them other than the other two are only still there cause the military contract freeze, I think. Seems like they will all leave.

– ATBO, their newer boy group, temporarily merged with Just B from Bluedot (kind of an adjacent company to them, also under Kakao) to form a project group and attend road to kingdom. However, the producer of the show stated the option of disbanding them was considering. Now, the groups have split up, so the future looks uncertain.

– I am so mad about Weeekly that I dont even want to talk about it.

So who is left?

Jeong Eunji, who apart from being one of the best vocalists in kpop, also has a successful acting career. She probably gets connections easier under them, if I had to guess.

ATBO for which the outlook doesnt look too good, and Weeekly.

Now what made me make this thread, it was reported that Kakao was looking to sell off it’s music label division (this got overshadowed by the rumors of them selling SM). My uneducated theory is that this constitutes as Kakao managing it’s assets to make them look more appealing to potential buyers.
