I saw a video that revealed Sakura only got 7.1 seconds of vocals (6.8% of the entire song) for their recent title track. It did feel like her part was short but I didn’t know it was this brief. Outside of Ash, the only track that offered her a decent share, she sang an average of 8.3 seconds for the rest of the album. I’m only highlighting Sakura here because she was the lowest but Eunchae’s situation isn’t all that much better.
I know Sakura and Eunchae are the weaker vocal links in the group but seeing the actual numbers really puts things into perspective. It reminds me of back in the day when Kwanghee from ZE:A would complain about having only 5 seconds of line distribution. Even then, it didn’t feel as exaggerated, likely because they were a 9 member group. With Le Sserafim being only 5 members, this kind of imbalance feels even more striking.
Imbalanced line distribution will always continue to exist in Kpop but I don’t think it should be lopsided to this extent. Do you guys think this is a reasonable course of action for Le Sserafim? If not, how would you address this issue moving forward?
