what are some Korean movie that is hard to watch without knowing Korean very well?

This question came to mind because my favorite movie is 왕의 남자 (The King and the Clown). I think it’s one of the best Korean movies, especially since it was one of the first successful gay-themed Korean films and was extremely successful overall. However, I really dislike the English translation of the title, which is The King and the Clown. The subtitles often fail to capture the nuances of the language, especially since words like 남자 have layered meanings that can’t be fully translated into English.

While watching the movie with my SO, I had a hard time translating and explaining the deeper meanings and why everything in the film feels so poetic. Additionally, if you’re familiar with the history of King Yeonsan (연산군), the story becomes even more tragic.

so what are some other great Korean movies that are hard to watch without knowing Korea(n) very well?
