f(x) has one of THE best discographies in K-Pop — of all time.

Okay, I’m on an f(x) listening spree, so bear with me.

f(x) is my K-Pop Roman Empire — I think about them all the time still. I didn’t get into K-Pop until about 2013 (although that makes me a hag now, I think), but I started listening to f(x) pretty early on because the groups that got me into K-Pop were SNSD and SHINee. Rum Pum Pum Pum has always been one of my favorite title tracks by a group (I just wish they didn’t exist during SM’s box-MV years because I know a proper MV for that song would’ve been amazing).

Anyway, at the time, I thought f(x)’s discography was kind of weird. You had very typically “K-Pop” songs, like Pinocchio, Electric Shock, and Hot Summer (their earlier title tracks in general), but also music that you hadn’t really heard before, like Rum Pum Pum Pum and Red Light. Also, I was like, 12-13. My taste in music was NOT refined. 😭 But looking back on it, it’s crazy how their songs still hold up, especially their B-sides. Airplane? Mr. Boogie? Butterfly? The Red Light album as a whole? Their songs really don’t sound dated; I could 100% imagine a decent amount of their tracks being released in the past few years.

In general, I feel like SM groups have really good B-sides. EXODUS and EX’ACT are some other top albums for me. So is Limitless! It’s hard to give any big corporation much praise, but you do have to hand it to SM for being so large yet releasing pretty experimental albums.

I haven’t slept in a while, so I’m just rambling about songs I like and reflecting on 11 (!!) years of being a K-Pop stan. But even though I’m more into other groups (ATEEZ ❤️), I always find myself returning to f(x)’s albums. Their songs are so timeless and even though they were always stuck in the SM dungeon, it’s nice to still see people talking about their discography and how great it is. I hope the girls know that them and their music is still so loved to this day. 🩷🩷
