There are so many moments where I discover or decide that a song from a group’s discography is perfect, but when I go hunting for more, there’s nothing remotely like it.
I’m not a huge fan of P1Harmony, but Love Story (a b-side on their Killin’ It album) is one of the best Kpop songs that came out last year, no joke. So when I go digging for more songs like it, all their other songs sound as far from Love Story as is possible. Such a shame, because I really loved Keeho’s vocal tone on a song like it.
Of course, my favourite aespa title track is Savage, which they haven’t even come close to recreating in recent years, so I’m just believing it’s a lost cause. Wish they’d go back to the sounds on their Savage album though, the electropop was everything for them!!
Then there’s the nugu boy group apocalypse of releasing a cute pop hit `and then promptly throwing that sound away for a cliche noisy song… 82Major with Sure Thing, Younite with Love It, AB6IX with literally their debut Breathe, MCND with Spring…
Recently, I loved the new &Team and RIIZE releases, but none of them even came close to what Deer Hunter or Honestly did for me. And the new songs are quite close in genre too, but it just doesn’t hit the same sort of vibe.
I think I’m just cursed with this.
